SALTO Inclusion Activities in 2013

Social Inclusion & social challenges in urban contexts

• Further implementation of the SALTO Inclusion 2 year strategy on 'social challenges in urban contexts': The challenge in 2013 will be to further finetune the strategy, make it efficient and to put it into action. All the 2013 “urban” activities are based on and coherent with the strategy.
• "Urban Solutions Seminar 2": the 2nd cross-sectorial seminar bringing together local policy makers, researchers, Youth in Action officers and urban youth projects to discuss youth participation in the cities and sharing and giving power to young people. (15 - 19 October, Greece) cooperation with Greek NA
• Long Term Training Course "Urban Youth" - final & evaluation project phase: a long-term training course started in December 2011, about issues urban youth are facing. The aim of the 2013 activity is to evaluate and share the projects and experiences undergone during a period of practice in 2012. Cooperation with the NA Hungary and France.
• Multicultural Urban Solutions Training Course: Course for youth workers on how to ‘manage diversity’ and how to deconstruct the 'frames' that young people, as well as youth workers are using to approach the world. (21 - 26 May, Poland) cooperation with Polish NA & SALTO Cultural Diversity
• Long Term Project “Enter! Promoting Access to Social Rights for All Young People”: SALTO Inclusion will partner in this Council of Europe course on youth policy responses to problems of social exclusion of young people living in disadvantaged neighbourhoods. (11 - 21 March, France)

Multiplying SALTO Inclusion's activities on youth employment

• Seminar "Entrepreneurship for Young People": SALTO Participation's seminar and publication on raising the entrepreneurship skills and opportunities for young people through the use of youth initiatives. (2013, Italy) Cooperation with SALTO Participation and NA Italy
• “Work for Inclusion": Contact making seminar on employability. (2013, Spain) Cooperation with the Spanish NA.
• Seminar on Employability of Young People: exchanging expertise and practice about employability of young people in Meda and Programme Countries. (2013, Jordania). Cooperation with the Jordanian Euromed Youth Unit and SALTO Euromed
• German Contact Making Seminar on Inclusion: creating new partnerships between German speaking organisations, working with the target group of unemployed young people. (2013, Austria). Cooperation with the Austrian NA 
• TC "Youth@work" on Employment: the 2nd edition on how can the YiA programme contribute to young people's employment chances. (April, Turkey) Cooperation with NA Turkey
• Seminar "EVS Skills & Employability": research process about how to make the bridge between EVS and the labour market. Stakeholder seminar will explore what skills employers look for and how to make the link between former volunteers and employers. (December 2013, Slovenia) Cooperation with SALTO SEE & UK NA

• Inclusion Colleague Support Group "Youth in Action Successes & Failures" (20-22 March, Croatia) Cooperation with NA Croatia
• TC "Inclusiv-E": aim is to empower youth workers to start projects to combat poverty and social exclusion through YiA projects (2013, Turkey) Cooperation with NA Turkey
• TC "Inclusion & Outdoor": training on using outdoor techniques to engage with inclusion groups (2013, Latvia) Cooperation with NA Latvia
• TC "Ability for Disability": training for youth workers interested to work with young people with disabilities, but who don’t have previous experience. (Jun/July 2013, Portugal) Cooperation with NA Portugal
• TC "Competences for All": the third edition about different tools to assess and recognise competences of young people with fewer opportunities. (2013, Germany) Cooperation with NA Germany and SALTO T&C
• EVS Included: 3rd East-West EVS Included project is an evaluation seminar targeting experienced EVS organisations that will discuss the past 7 years of the YiA programme and cooperation on EVS inclusion projects with the EECA region (18 - 24 November, Georgia) Cooperation with NA Austria & SALTO EECA
• Study Visit on Inclusion: visiting innovative youth work projects in Israel that focus on inclusion of different groups. (7-11 April, Israel) Cooperation with the Israelian Euromed Youth Unit and SALTO EuroMed

Trainers and TOY

• Implementation of the changes based on review of the TOYdatabase and suggested by the independent researcher (2010).
• Participation in relevant trainer meetings to promote and collect feedback on TOY and make the tool (even) more user-friendly and effective.
