The participants will explore ways in which they can create a positive image of their inclusion group/their NGO/their work.
The participants will develop a strategy of reaching their goals and they will use campaigning as a tool for reaching that goal.

Description of the tool

1. What is your goal? – Link them to the activity of the “Perfect image – Utopia” 30’
First the trainer makes an introduction into strategy development, strategic planning and the main campaigning tools (also provided in a handout at the beginning of the session).
They should build smaller groups of 4-5 persons also according to the similarities of their inclusion groups.
2. How do you get there? 40’
In the small groups they need to make a strategy on how they want to reach their goals.
- identify their aim and objectives
- make a SWOT analysis of their current state of affairs/situation in society (what are the main problems and what are their strong points)
- developing an outline of a campaign (aim, target group, message, activities and materials, partners, budget, media coverage, measuring effects + outreach)
3. Presentation of the strategies/campaigns: 20’
Each group prepares a gallery presentation and makes a short 2-3 minute summary for the rest of the groups. Questions follow at the end.

Expected outcome: The participants will get an overview of strategic planning and campaigning development, the elements necessary to think of while designing longer period projects with a specific goal. This is meant to be the first introductory activity into a wider competence building training of the different elements of campaign activities. Therefore the method stays due to time restrains informative, giving an overview and does not go into more detailed activity planning.
