The MIL Green Toolkit equips youth workers and educators with 20 workshops on media and information literacy (MIL) in environmental topics. It fosters critical thinking, media analysis, and engagement in climate action using non-formal education methods.
The toolkit aims to enhance youth media literacy in the context of climate change and sustainability, enabling young people to critically analyze media, identify misinformation (fake news, greenwashing), and actively engage in environmental and digital activism.
The MIL Green Toolkit provides structured workshops that integrate media literacy with environmental topics. The activities are divided into four thematic areas:
1) Understanding media – analyzing sources, credibility, and media influence.
2) Consequences of media – tackling misinformation, fake news, and greenwashing.
3) Using media – engaging with social media, AI, and digital content responsibly.
4) Practical media – applying MIL in community activism and environmental campaigns.
Each workshop follows a structured format including warm-up activities, critical discussions, hands-on media analysis, and creative outputs. The learning outcomes include:
- enhanced critical thinking in media consumption
- recognizing and countering misinformation (including greenwashing)
- developing digital literacy and fact-checking skills
- understanding and engaging in environmental advocacy
- applying MIL skills in real-world activism.
