CREATIVITY and INNOVATION in YiA

Training Course

4-9 October 2011 | Belgium - FR

TRAINING COURSE CREATIVITY and INNOVATION in YiA
Objectives: - To support youth workers and youth leaders to think in innovative ways of approaching youth related topics and develop creative solutions to increase the impact and efficiency of youth activities; - To analyze each step of a project (preparation, implementation, evaluation and follow up) and develop creative solutions to improve these steps in terms of process and quality results. - To develop innovative methodologies that increase effective participation of all project-actors involved in youth projects: partners, youngsters, local communities, policymakers, in order to bring these projects closer to the local community and increase their impact. - To address the question of the link between creativity and innovative entrepreneurship, this last word very often still being taboo in the field of youth work. Methodology : The working tools and methods will be based on non formal education principles: exercises, games and group dynamics, in plenary or sub-groups, in which the participants are invited to "produce" the content of the training rather than to "swallow" information. Training Team: Anita Silva and Jo Claeys (both freelance trainers). Profile can be consulted on the TOY-menu of the Salto website.

Over the past 14 years of being involved in the Youth programme as well as Youth in Action Programme, the trainers and the promoters of this training have been confronted with several factors when working with youth workers and youngsters in international context:
* PARTICIPATION IN PROJECTS: a certain number of projects are still often carried out by a single organisation/person instead of being a shared project with all actors effectively involved.
* QUALITY IN PROJECTS: an important number of projects follow a traditional path and often there is a lack of innovation or creativity which would increase the learning outcomes for all the persons and organisations involved and the impact on the local community.
