Youth Hand in Hand for Clean Seas

Our project aims to improve the level of awareness of sea pollution through various activities by bringing young people from 6 different countries to Istanbul.

Marine Services Directorate aims to introduce the sustainable marine environmental management activities of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, to raise awareness about marine pollution through inspiring the community to partake in activities and athering young individuals (18 persons in total), who are sensitive to environment, between the age 18-30, from various EU countries that follow different marine environmental management strategies, with university students from Istanbul who are in the same age group, within scope of Erasmus+ Youth Exchange Program.

MAİN ACTİVİTİES:
•City tour to promote the historical and cultural characteristics of Istanbul
•Technical visits to the ship inspection facilities run by Shipborn Marine Pollution Surveillance and Inspection Division and briefing on the operation of by technical staff
•The Journey of Marine Litter from source to disposal. Participants will have an opportunity to experience whole process for marine litter collecting, classifying, disposal and recycle
•Ensuring the flow of information by bringing together project stakeholders and students from the Environmental Engineering Departments of the universities which are determined in Istanbul
•Organizing a workshop to be held in cooperation with universities and non-governmental organization designated as the local partner of the project with the participation of professors from the university
•A cultural night that contributes to the development of social relations of participants from different countries.
AİMS;
*To introduce successful works of Istanbul, a sea city, related to marine pollution.
*To take a more active role as an institution in Erasmus + youth projects.
*Gain coordinator experience with short term EVS Projects
*To meet with European Voluntary Service Organizations and to find new and reliable partnerships, to make quality projects together forward.
Result;
-To develop partnerships and collaborations and write new projects.
