“RECOGNISE Learning – Recognise YOURSELF II”

Training Course

1-6 June 2013 | Braga, Portugal

Training course on Youthpass in the EVS training cycle (pre-departure, on-arrival, mid-term and evaluation).
• Are you an EVS trainer implementing pre-departure, on-arrival, mid term and/or evaluation training courses for EVS volunteers for the National Agency within Action 2 of the Youth in Action Programme? • Do the words “Youthpass” and “Learning to learn” ring a bell to you? • Are you interested in raising awareness and recognising learning through the Youthpass and Learning to learn processes in the EVS training course cycle? Then we have the right offer for you!!! Youthpass and its process is successfully implemented in Action 2 (European Voluntary Service). Many volunteers and their mentors implement the Youthpass process in their EVS projects. They gain experience and of course face a lot of challenges when implementing the Youthpass process, but esp. when recognising the learning outcomes and being able to talk about it. For some it is easy, while others still struggle with a lot of questions. As EVS trainers you are involved in the implementation of Youthpass and its educational implications. You might already use the Key competences approach or focus more on the reflection of learning, have provided sessions on learning to learn (L2L) or tackled the learning and reflection process topics around Youthpass in various other ways. You might already have noticed the publication Youthpass in the EVS training cycle (https://www.youthpass.eu/downloads/13-62-57/Publication_YP_EVS.pdf) and maybe you have used it to work in your activities. We (the National Agency of Portugal and the SALTO Training and Cooperation Resource Centre) invite you now to this training course in Braga/Portugal. We want to develop, discuss and share with you how you can implement the Youthpass process and related aspects in your specific modules of EVS training courses. And of course we will talk about the recognising non-formal learning and/or education by oneself but also by others. Aim and objectives of the training course The training course aims to support trainers working with the EVS cycle to develop their competences for supporting self-directed learning processes of EVS volunteers, in order to improve the implementation of Youthpass and its process Specific objectives of the training course include: • to experience self-directed learning a) as a trainer personally, and b) as a trainer implementing it in practise with a specific focus on how to make volunteers recognise the learning dimension of EVS, • to strengthen the recognition of learning, • to explore different dimensions of learning and its implications in the EVS context, • to explore the role as trainer in the Youthpass process, • to discuss and develop the role of EVS trainings in the context of Youthpass, • to support the challenge of facilitating a process based on self-directed learning, including assessing competences and describing learning outcomes in EVS, and • to share tools, methods and theories of self-directed learning. During the training course you will have the opportunity to reflect on your experience, to explore challenges and opportunities related to self-directed learning and the recognition of non-formal learning.
