EuroMed Essentials: The Role of Religions in the EuroMediterranean Cooperation

Training Course

23-28 April 2012 | Malta

The main aim of the training course is to increase the level of knowledge and competences OF trainers active at national, international level or potential trainers (youth worker and youth leaders).
The proposal is articulated on 3 main modules: 1st module about Geopolitics; 2nd module about History; 3rd module about Religion. Each module is independent from the others. The first module about Geopolitics has been hosted in Greece in 2010 while second Module on History was held in 2011 in Turkey The topic of the Role of Religion in the Geopolitical framework of EuroMed is very important in order to obtain a better understanding of the reality in which we are working everyday. The topic of Religion will be tackled as a geopolitical element in relation to different countries and their people. It will be the focus to better analyze the relation among different social groups living in the EuroMed region. Religion is a very sensitive topic because from a personal issue it becomes a political and sometime also an institutional element. The seminar will focus more on that latter and will go more in detail on the issue. Moreover, the topic of Religion is in itself an educational Tool that could be used during international activities to better develop and support the mutual understanding and deepest refection about the interlinks that exsist among cultures and civilizations. The Aims and objectives: By facilitating establishment of learning community and sustainable partnerships, the seminar has the following objectives : To explore the history of Religions of Mediterranean Basin; To learn more about Religions in the framework of the EuroMed area; To reflect more about the geopolitical role of Religions within in the EuroMed region; To reflect and explore possibilities of non-formal education activities using Religion as an educational Tool; To support participants to identify and start the development of new projects.
