Education for Sustainable Development explores issues and activities which may encourage pupils & students to take action on local and global sustainable development issues.
Monday Introductions and participant presentations What does sustainable development mean in different contexts? Taking digital photographs & videos – tools and tips, plus practice during a guided tour of Oulu city Tuesday Education for Sustainable Development in Finland Transformative pedagogy – theories and practices encouraging active citizenship Sustainability activities – Part I Case study: South-North Partnership for Sustainable Development Wednesday Visits to local sustainability projects / cultural sites. Sustainability activities Part II Thursday Step-by-Step documentary film-making Friday Sustainability activities – Part III Comenius-Grundtvig Opportunities Web-based resources promoting education for sustainability Course conclusions and feedback Evening – dinner, certificates and closing Please Note: The programme may be adjusted to meet the needs of the group and according to visit availability (school summer holiday period is June, July, and the beginning of August)

Costs

Participants are responsible for funding their own costs. Teachers, school staff, teacher trainers, youth and adult educators from EU and EFTA/EEA countries (except those living in the training host country, Finland) are eligible for funding from the European Commission, Lifelong Learning Programme to participate on courses. This course is registered in the Europa Comenius-Grundtvig Training Database of approved courses. The process to apply for funding should start as early as possible.
