What is the Youth in Action Programme?

Youth in Action is the new EU Programme in the field of youth, which will be implemented from 1 January 2007 until 31 December 2013 with a total budget of 885 million euros. It is the successor of the YOUTH Programme (2000-2006).

The Youth in Action Programme makes an important contribution to the acquisition of competences and is therefore a key instrument in providing young people with opportunities for non-formal and informal learning with a European dimension.

The Youth in Action Programme is a programme for all. It encourages the involvement of young people with fewer opportunities and addresses young people aged between 13 and 30.

The Youth in Action offers young people opportunities for mobility and active participation in the construction of Europe. It aims to contribute to building a “Europe of knowledge” and to create a European arena for co-operation in the development of youth policy, based on non-formal education. It encourages the concept of lifelong learning and the development of skills and competencies, which promote active citizenship.

The Youth in Action Programme offers financial support to projects of young people, provides information, training and opportunities to develop new partnerships across Europe and beyond.

Activities supported by the YOUTH IN ACTION programme are divided into five Actions:

Action 1 - Youth for Europe
Action 2 - European Voluntary Service
Action 3 - Youth in the World
Action 4 - Youth Support Systems
Action 5 - Support for European cooperation in the youth field

Youth in Action APPLICATION FORMS valid as from 1 January 2010 are available HERE!

The possibility for organisations from the partner countries in South East Europe to apply directly for project grants to the European Commission continues under the new Programme.
