SALTO Inclusion in a Nutshell

The SALTO-YOUTH Inclusion RC was created in September 2000 to stimulate the participation of young people with fewer opportunities in the Youth (in Action) programme. The Youth in Action programme should be open to ALL - and if it doesn't reach certain target groups because of specific obstacles, something should be done about it. This is what SALTO contributes:

Looking for inclusion training?

Are you working with groups 'with fewer opportunities'?
SALTO Inclusion organises several training courses per year for youth workers (professionals or volunteers) who are working towards the inclusion of marginalised, discriminated or excluded youth. SALTO courses can give you that extra boost to get young people with special needs on board.

Practical manuals for Inclusion projects!

And if you don't have the time or luck to participate in an inclusion course?
No worries. SALTO Inclusion extracts all the content from its training courses and transforms it into a practical youth work manual that guides you through the different steps of an inclusion project. It is like a training course in paper format, for all those that didn't have the chance or time to participate 'live'.

Inspiration for your inclusive youth projects?

Do you feel that you cannot keep reinventing yourself?
Your youth work relies a lot on creativity and innovation to keep it fresh. Therefore SALTO Inclusion set up an online Toolbox for Training and Youth Work where you can share and find methods, excercises and background reading for your inclusive youth work. No more excuse to keep on doing the same activities.

Support for our NA and Commission colleagues & Co

SALTO Inclusion is there to help with this European Priority
The network of SALTO Resource Centres organises its activities in close cooperation with the YiA National Agencies, the European Commision and other stakeholders (European Youth Forum, NGOs). The SALTO workplans are based on their needs and suggestions. SALTO Inclusion supports NAs & COM through staff training, advice and support.

Spreading the Inclusion Message

All very nice what SALTO is doing, but if nobody knows about it?
That's why SALTO Inclusion is also carrying out a fair share of promo-work to get its resources known, and to make the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities a widely supported priority. We would gladly come and present the SALTO resources at your seminars and conferences. Or you can access them easily online.

Invisible work behind the scenes

There's more than Inclusion in the SALTO network
SALTO Inclusion also participates actively in the SALTO network and takes on some transversal tasks on behalf of the whole network. Besides coordinating efforts amongst the SALTO colleagues, SALTO Inclusion is responsible for the following tasks:

Did you have other support activities in mind for SALTO?

  • Any other suggestions on how SALTO Inclusion could support Inclusion as a priority in the frame of the Youth in Action programme?
  • Any more general tasks that you see SALTO take care of? What else should SALTO be doing to support international youth work?
