Quality in Evs trainings Forum nternational meeting of trainers active in European Voluntary Service Training and Evaluation Cycle

Seminar

28 June - 2 July 2011 | Zafferana Etnea, CT, Sicily , Italy

A meeting of trainers active in Evs Training and Evaluation Cycle to share, discuss and tackle the new challenges and issues faced as Evs trainers
2011 is the European Year of Volunteering and at the same time European Voluntary Service reaches 15 years of existence. In these years Evs offered a unique learning opportunity to thousands of young people, hosting and sending organisations in Europe and in many other countries of the world. An important role in the learning path offered in Evs is played by the Training and Evaluation Cycle. Trainers, who are involved in it in the different countries, are taking care of the design and implementation of new training tools to support the process of learning of EVS volunteers. We believe this work has been really important to improve the quality an impact of Evs and that there is still a lot to do even if from 2011 the Commission has decided for financial reasons to reduce the role of Training and Evaluation Cycle. We propose to build together a meeting to share what has been developed until today in the different countries from both experienced and young trainers. At the same time we think is important to discuss and tackle the new challenges and issues we're facing as trainers (such as the change of the profile of Evs volunteers and of Evs promoters, the role of youthpass, inclusion of volunteers with fewer opportunities) and look forward towards future prospectives of our work in the new generation programmes after 2013. Objectives: • to explore different dimensions of learning and its implications for the EVS context • to share the educational challenges of EVS trainings • to support a wider reflection about the trainees' need • to exchange good practices and methods developed in EVS trainings in different countries • to develop new opportunities/tools/methods to support learning to be used in working practice when working with volunteers in Evs trainings • to develop a learning and support platform for trainers active in Evs training and evaluation cycle Methodology: This event is a forum, a learning and inspiring space for trainers who want to learn and share in an active way. For this reason there will be the opportunity for participants to take initiative and deeply influence the content and the outcomes of the forum.
