PEERcing for Inclusion

Training Course

1-6 June 2009 | Bonn, Germany

A training for youth workers. Motivate your target group to get into (short- or long term) EVS by training those who have done it as peers.
Have you ever tried to convince youth with fewer opportunities to take part in a short- or long term EVS-project? It can be tricky and hard work to overcome both real and imaginary problems and prejudices. Wouldn’t it be helpful to already have an ex-volunteer with a similar background who has already done it and can tell his/her friends what it was like? And, more importantly: That it was a great experience and opportunity he/she would repeat anytime? In short: you need a PEER to help convince your target group to go abroad, and do an EVS. This training offers the opportunity to • Develop your PEER-project with and for EVS-volunteers • Exchange ideas with youth workers from 5 different countries on how to work with socially disadvantaged youth • Stay in touch with participants, trainers and National-Agencies to exchange ideas and get support for your Peer-project. • Create a network of Peer-projects which may also become EVS-hosting-projects for your volunteers. • Find out more on how EVS works and what opportunities it offers for your target group. Who can take part? Youth workers: (from Norway, Finland, Slovakia, Belgium and Germany) • working with and for socially disadvantaged youth. • Who have already, or are planning to send and/or host EVS-volunteers • Who are prepared to set up Peer-projects in their organisations and stay in touch with other participants, and NAs for at least one year. • Who will attend an evaluation meeting after one year
