Difference Meets Tolerance

Training Course

23-29 March 2009 | Bonn, Germany

This is a training offer for those who would like to know more about the concept of intercultural learning as a pedagogical approach for projects in the framework of the YOUTH in Action programme.
This is a training offer for those who would like to know more about the concept of intercultural learning as a pedagogical approach for projects in the framework of the Youth in Action programme. Many youth leaders have already had significant intercultural experiences themselves but have difficulties to put intercultural learning as a planned and structured process into practice and into projects. This is where this training course comes in: Starting from the experiences of the participants we will actively deal with elements of this concept during the training course through experiential learning. We will focus on aspects of social attitudes, modes of perception and the resulting behaviour because they are determinant elements of any process of intercultural communication and interaction. The active involvement of participants will be an integral part of the entire learning process. Accordingly, we will deal with conditions for intercultural learning and we will reflect on culture and cultural identity. Further on we will work on competences that young people and youth workers need to develop to be intercultural competent. During the training we will also have a look at the new demands of the programme YOUTH in Action. Within the framework of Youthpass, the new instrument of recognition and validation for the Youth in Action programme, participants are invited to set their own learning objectives for the training course and to assess their learning outcomes.
