Youth exchanges are standard activities of a long tradition within European and international youth work. Several possibilites to support youth exchanges are existing at national, European, and international level.

One possibility to support youth exchanges is Action 1.1 of the Youth in Action programme. Several indicators are recommended to meet the quality aspects of Action 1.1 and to be successful during the application process and the implementation of the project. The main aim of BTM is to support youth workers to achieve the expected quality standards.

On an annual basis, the SALTO Training and Co-operation RC co-ordinates and monitors several BTM training courses for ca. 250 youth workers from all over Europe. The training courses are hosted by the NAs and are implemented by a trainers pool consisting of 7 European trainers: Elizabeth Kasa, Gerald Dowden, Jo Claeys, Nerijus Kriauciunas, Sandra Siere, and Evi Koutsospirou.

All BTM training courses being implemented after the annual meeting of the trainers pools for the different NA Network TCs in October 2006 will offer information and support in the new Youth in Action programme (2007-2013).
