INTERNATIONAL TOOL FAIR XV - Back to the future - Call for proposals for TF TALKS

Description

The XV edition of the International Tool Fair, that will be held in Vila Nova de Gaia  (Portugal) from 4th to 8th October 2021, will explore the themes connected to the various risk factors that youth work faced and which will be addressed in the next future. Given the situation of social, cultural and economic fragility, practitioners dealing with youth education need to equip themselves with increasingly sophisticated and effective tools for learning that can help to cope with today's changes and challenges. The risk factors are diverse and complex: we are facing the serious crisis of COVID-19, but also others such as environmental, democratic and human rights issues. The International Tool Fair XV will try to address this present time by putting educational tools at the centre as an opportunity for exchange and professional growth.

In the frame of the preparation of the International Tool Fair XV, SALTO EuroMed Resource Centre and the Portuguese National Agency for Erasmus+ as organisers, together with the steering group of NAs supporting the event, are launching  the present call for experts interested to perform a thematic live talk.

What do we mean for TF TALKS?

Tool Fair Talks are the Tool Fair equivalent of TED Talks but specifically for the Tool Fair.  We are looking for excellent communicators in English with really useful, relevant and interesting things to say.  We are looking for presenters who understand the field and the theme of Tool Fair XV or one of the priority items chosen for the 2021 edition, who will bring some new/different/peculiar perspectives and get the participants thinking in a new/different/peculiar way about the theme. The lasting of the intervention has to be between 12 and 15 minutes maximum and it has to include in the presentation also visuals, audio or the use of support materials. The TF TALK will be recorded by the communication team of the Tool Fair XIV. The edited version of it will be published in SALTO Educational Tools Portal and via social networks.

We want to inform all possible candidates that:

1. one among the main themes of the TF TALKS of  the International Tool Fair 2021 shoud be the subject of your proposal:  

• Holistic wellbeing of youth (digital tools and/or digital inclusion or exclusion)
• Emotions in online/digital learning spaces: how to manage, how to provoke, which kind of emotions are possible online
• Adapting and transferring tools from offline to online (conceptual framework and examples)

2. in case you will be selected, you will be accompanied by a TF TALKS Coach, who will support you in preparation and during the performance. Your coach will be included in each e-mail communication and you will meet him/her on the first day of the ITF XV for live rehearsals.

3. you will be requested to deliver a summary presenting your TF TALK topic 4 months before the event, that will be published on the website of ITF XV together with you photo and professional bio

4. you will be requested  to deliver a definitive script and visuals within 10 day before the event

5. your TF TALK will be recorded, edited and published on the dedicated section of the Educational Toos Portal and disseminated via social networks

6. after the end of the ITF XV, you will be required to send to organisers an article (3.500 characters) about the essence of what you presented during the TF TALK

Time frame & conditions 

The selection and preparation process will follow the following deadlines:

• You can apply by 26.03.2021
• You will receive the results of the selection by 26.04.2021

If selected, you will be contractualized by the SALTO EuroMed RC's training provider.

If selected you will be assigned to a coach.

If selected, you have to be availiable for 2 days between 4th and 7th October 2021 in Vila Nova de Gaia.

Fee: 500€ all taxes included (travel and accommodation will be covered by organisers)
