Aims & objectives

Young people with disabilities face daily with many problems due to the existence of community prejudices about social inclusion and lack of own resources to ensure access and participation without discrimination to active life of the community in which they live. Their integration is not easy, adolescence and the transition to adult life representing milestones for the development and social integration.
Involving young people in the creation / implementation of attractive activities together with young people with disabilities in order to sustain their integration and overcoming prejudices and discriminatory attitudes of community members.

Specific objectives of the Training Course refer to:
1. Facilitate cooperation and networking between 15 young people with special needs and 15 without special needs through the development of artistic activities
2. Stimulating 30 young people to be actively involved in developing joint actions with young people with special needs through cooperation and exchange of good practices at European level
3. Growing non-discriminatory attitudes and eliminating prejudices among local community members across the young people with disabilities

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

15 young people with special needs and 15 young people without disabilities from Italy, France and Romania.

1. Knowing each other and ice breaking games
2. Painting Workshops
3. Combining colors
4. Photo-voice activity
5. Pantomime sketch and the sketch of the final show
6. Handcrafts

Outcomes of the activity

Guide "Leave a sign!" is a practical tool for youth workers/volunteers interested in getting skills and competences for inclusion of disabled younsters. The aim is to share the activities developed, with description, methods and goals of each activity with tips and tricks, to be used by youth workers/volunteers working with groups and youth with special needs by using art&craft learning elements in non-formal education. It's a collection of activities with description of the purpose of the activity, materials and time needed, instructions for the implementation and debrief/reflection. It will be gathered some useful tools of the trainers/youth workers/volunteers who worked with the disabled people as well.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

I was a co-trainer and a co-facilitator with my colleague Jure Sterman in this Training Course. Our international team worked togheter in order to share experiences and knowledge in order to set a better enviroment for the participants. My tasks were to organize, prepare and implement all the worshops.

I worked on this training for 5 days as a full time trainer.
