The project consistsed of the preparation, implementation and follow-up of a seminar dealing with the development and capacity building of the Hate Speech Watch both internal and external perspective. We looked at the internal development process as part of a project and we improved a potential internal protocol prescribing the rules of the procedure to classify something as hate speech and the actions recommended to take in the different countries. Furthermore, we went into details concerning the capacity building of the volunteers. We had a discussion on how to improve the the external communication of the Watch and make it more popular among young people, by getting more complaints we can enhance the overall work of the body.
All the activities and session were realized by non-formal education methods and human rights based approach.
Learning Outcomes:
The meeting focused on how to improve the role of the Hate Speech Watch in the Campaign. Therefore, emphasis was put on understanding the points of view and the specific experiences of each participating organisation. By dedicating their time, activists had the opportunity to elaborate the topic and develop themselves in personal and professional terms as well.
By the end of the activity, the participants were be able to:
-get a better understanding of monitoring as a tool to fight against human rights violations;
-recognize and classify hate speech online in accordance with the internal protocol prepared by the group itself;
Trainer for specific sessions as expert of APICE, partner organization for this project.
