in Imatra, Finland
organised by CIMO- Finnish NA

Aims & objectives

• Improve quality of 1.1 through making youth exchanges a better learning experience

• Engaging and challenging to go back to the basics: Why do we use methodology?
• Exploring learning: Discovering how, where and why learning happens, in order to support it.
• Discover the elements of learning methodology, and creating “tailor made” methodology to the needs of participants and their young people
• Build and support partnerships around methodology and ideas

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

Team: Antti Korhonen (Finland) & Gabi Steinprinz (Nl)

Participants: youth workers, trainer & youth leaders
from Albania, Austria, Croatia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Slovak Rep. Spain, Turkey.

Training methods used & main activities

Methods we used were a mix of known methods and innovative methods, as the topic was (re)designing methods in NFE.

Some methods:
Ukelele - conceptualize and understand learning , learning 360 (educative space to explore learning)
Needs analysis (world cafe) - needs of young people
Open space: create new educational methods
Cocktailbar - mixing our experiences and share our mix drinks.

Outcomes of the activity

Participants did an activity on the street teaching ukelele (which they learned just 5 days before themselves)
From evaluations of pax we got they understand better the importance of needs analysis. Pax did not emphasis too much to that before coming. They all had steps of needs analysis as part of their action plan.
Finnish NA was very positive about the training course and the outcomes.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

I have been involved from the beginning til the end. From creating the idea and the concept (in prep meeting) to designing the (educational) programme, facilitating sessions, guide learning processes and evaluations/ report.

I worked on this training for 6 days as a full time trainer.
