Aims & objectives

The main aim was to use garbage as material to create musical instruments and make a public performance.

This was inserted in activities that provide awareness and tools of sustainable development and musical skills in a group.

The aim of Check-IN Association is to be a resource of information, training and access to lifelong learning opportunities for young and adult people in order to promote: social and communitarian integration; education and cooperation for sustainable development; personal competencies, interpersonal and social development; active citizenship; the respect for human rights; gender equality; tolerance, intercultural dialogue and solidarity between the peoples, among others.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The organizing team was composed by 4 portuguese people (including myself).
The target group were young adults above 18 years old, from EU countries.

We had 24 participants from 10 different countries. The countries that participated were:
Portugal, Austria, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Spain, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuânia, Romania.

Training methods used & main activities

Team building games, getting to know each other, creative presentations, are some examples of activities that we had. All the project was made in non-formal education.

Outcomes of the activity

The sucess was measured in the final performance where all the participants worked as a team with the musical instruments that they have builded. We achieve an awaress of sustainable development and ecological concern. It showed to local people and participants how art can help to be more ecological and environment friendly.
