Sporting for equality - Breaking the ice on human rights education

The activity was aimed at both professional as well as volunteer youth workers from across Europe.

There were trainers and participants from Finland, Sweden, Iceland, Romania, UK, Germany, Belgium, Cyprus.

Training methods used & main activities

- outdoor activities (skiing, snowshoeing...)
- games (icebreakers, energisers, teambuilding games...)
- small group work
- role play & drama
- study visits to local youth clubs + youth information centres

Outcomes of the activity

The participants discovered how sports can be used as a means of promoting equal opportunities. They also learned why human rights education is important in every day youth work. They also explored what was it like to work in an international team, as for many of them this was the first international youth work seminar.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

I was the team leader and the local co-ordinator of the event.

I worked on this training for 7 days as a full time trainer.
