Aims & objectives

The training aimed to build the foundational competencies required for effective humanitarian response, targeting staff who are new to the sector or transitioning into emergency operations. It addressed essential needs such as understanding humanitarian principles, coordination mechanisms, early response planning, proposal development, and decision-making under pressure. The desk-based simulation responded to the practical need for trainees to apply theory in realistic crisis scenarios, strengthening their ability to develop response strategies, logframes, and budgets within tight timelines.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

Professionals from Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Iraq, India, and Türkiye.

Training methods used & main activities

Non-Formal education approaches including, interactive workshops, group discussions, simulations and role-plays, peer-to-peer learning, problem-solving exercises, reflection circles, and hands-on activities. The activity encouraged participants to share experiences, collaborate in teams, practice new skills in real-life scenarios, and reflect on their learning, ensuring a participatory and learner-centered approach.

Outcomes of the activity

The training activity achieved strong foundational competence in project management, with participants improving their skills in coordination, rapid needs assessment, proposal writing, budgeting, and early response strategy development.
