Aims & objectives

The Raising Peace Campaigns aim at strengthening and improving the visibility of the role of the International Voluntary Service movement in the promotion of peace and human rights.The 2015 campaign included 3 Peace Weeks on fundamental topics:The rights of migrant people, refugees and to citizenship of every person in the world,The right to healthy life, food and housing and The rights related to gender, sexuality and to the own body.
The Peace Weeks trained activists from all over the world and led to awareness raising actions on these topics.
Objectives of the training: The rights related to gender, sexuality and to the own body :
- to learn, reflect and communicate on the situation, causes, and alternatives around Human Rights in Europe, and especially regarding the LGBT community and the personal right to choose own personal orientation;
- to empower participants with abilities to implement and lead peace and human rights campaigning activities;
- to spread awareness through campaigning activities on the topic of the peace week, locally and internationally;
-to make advocacy in front of relevant institutions in order to promote programmes and protection regarding the topic of the peace week.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The training involved 21 participants (13 women, 8 men) coming from 9 countries : Albania, Spain, Greece, Italy, France, Uk, Ukraine, Portugal and Poland.
The team involved 3 trainers ( 2 women, 1 man) from Spain, France and Poland.

Training methods used & main activities

As a peace Action week, the training was a combination of training activities, action implementation and networking.
Therefore we used a variety of methods such as: visual mapping, sensory path simulation, group work, Workshop, peer to peer discussions. We also met several local NGO in a "world cafe" settings to exchange about their work. The final stage of the week consisted in the implementation of the raising awareness action planned by the participants.

Outcomes of the activity

During the last days of the training the participants implemented in the streets of Warsaw the awareness raising action they had developed. These actions targetted the passer by of one of the main street of Warsaw and was a sucess.
The participants also created a facebook group on which they exchange about their projects and inititiaves.
At least 5 of the participants are further involved in Raising Peace 2016, and 3 more implemented local actions upon their return home.

I was one of the 3 co-trainers.

I worked on this training for 6 days as a full time trainer.
