Aims & objectives

The training activity aimed to strengthen the capacity of humanitarian actors working in North-West Syria and Türkiye, with a particular focus on Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL). It addressed the need for improved skills in designing and implementing MEAL plans, building theory of change frameworks, identifying indicators, data collection, analysis, needs assessments, accountability mechanisms, and learning agendas. Additionally, the training included a “Training of Trainers” component to equip participants with facilitation techniques and methods for cascading knowledge to other teams and groups, ensuring sustainability and wider reach. The activity aligns with the goals of the Humanitarian Leadership Academy and Save the Children by enhancing the quality, effectiveness, and accountability of humanitarian interventions, while also promoting regional collaboration among Turkish and Syrian organisations.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

I served as a co-trainer, responsible for designing and delivering of the Training Course (TC). My responsibilities included preparing the training curriculum, facilitating sessions, coordinating with the trainer team, and conducting the evaluation of the training to ensure learning objectives were met.

I worked on this training for 5 days as a full time trainer.

Testimonial of the reference person

I can confirm that this activity took place as described. I worked with Amr Kamel during the “Monitoring and Evaluation (TOT)” training in Türkiye in September 2024, and he was indeed involved as a full-time co-trainer throughout the programme.

Amr contributed to planning the course, preparing the curriculum, and facilitating several sessions. He supported the group with clear explanations, practical examples, and a calm and approachable style. The training covered a wide range of MEAL topics, and he was able to break them down in a way that helped participants from both Türkiye and Syria follow and apply the content.

During the activities, he worked well with the team and stayed flexible when we needed to adjust timing or methods. Participants appreciated his guidance during group work, simulations, and discussions, and he helped create a positive and safe learning space. His role also included supporting the evaluation process and making sure the learning objectives were met.

Based on this experience, I can say that Amr was reliable, engaged, and genuinely committed to the success of the training. I am happy to validate this reference.
