TOY - Trainers Online for Youth
This is a reference for Leilani van Rheenen
The aim of the training was to provide the space for EVS volunteers to evaluate their volunteering experience so far and to reflect on what they would like to achieve during the rest of their EVS experience and after their EVS is finished. Topics covered included describing the EVS experience and challenges faced, evaluating the level of satisfaction and expectations from EVS actors, building on their best experiences and making future plans, receiving information about opportunities available after EVS, Youthpass, competence development and an open space to discuss the topics that were important to them.
The trainers team consisted of 2 Turkish trainers, one Moldovan trainer and one Dutch trainer. The participants were from France, Austria, Czech Republic, Spain, Romania, Macedonia, Germany, Poland, Latvia and Georgia.
Methods used included ice-breakers, individual work, work in small and large groups, input, appreciative inquiry and open space.
In the evaluation the volunteers stated that the training had provided the space for them to take a deep breath away from their everyday situation and that they were returning with a renewed motivation to make the most out of their experience regardless of the circumstances. They also had more confidence and motivation to try new things due to hearing other volunteers' experiences.
Planning and preparation of the training as well as carrying out designated sessions as the tasks for the training were divided equally amongst the trainers.
