Aims & objectives

Journey to Peace was a Training Course involving youth workers from different countries.
Aims of training were to educate youth workers engaged in working with migrants and minorities. Nowadays while the world is "shaken" by terrorist attacks, violence, fights for the power, etc., the Mass Media is the only, and daily, "supply" of information. In this background, while people are suffering and thinking only for themselves, prejudices and stereotypes are spreading far and wide, nurturing hate between countries.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The project hosted 24 youth workers from the following countries: Germany, Tunisia, Egypt, Macedonia, Italy. Youth worker/NGO workers in the youth field and young person (age 18+), especially those who have a story to tell about conflicts and refugees in their countries and continents.

Training methods used & main activities

Nowadays while the world is "shaken" by terrorist attacks, violence, fights for the power, etc., the Mass Media is the only, and daily, "supply" of information. In this background, while people are suffering and thinking only for themselves, prejudices and stereotypes are spreading far and wide, nurturing hate between countries. This ever-growing challenge needs an effective and rapid intervention, especially above the youth workers that are daily dealing with nowadays youth, obfuscated by Mass Media and Social Media, during local activities and Erasmus + projects. Methodologies that will be used: icebreakers, team building, simulation exercises, debates, roundtable, SWOT analysis, problem and solution trees, and study visit.

- Game of Life (Peace Resource Pack)

Outcomes of the activity

Outcomes of the some of activities:
1. Identifying the 5 Personal Conflict Management Styles.
2. Understanding the meaning, pro, con of each style in addition to examples
3. Discussing each style using the Goals/Personal Relationships scale
4. Undergoing a self-evaluation to understand the personal conflict management style

-To present frequently used notions from everyday life and let participants discuss the elements and content of these notions and how each of them is probably to contribute to a state of peace or rather lead to a situation of war

- To encourage the participants to be open to various approaches when they are formulating judgments about these elements of society

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

I was the only trainer of the project and I had 2 co-facilitators who were assisting me. I was leading all activities through project aims and as the organizers were planed in the application form. Most of the activities were from SALTO TOOLS and other used materials.

I worked on this training for 9 days as a full time trainer.
