International Training course “EUROPE ON AIR 2.0” Methods for European Citizenship Education and Innovation in Youth Participation”

Aims & objectives

The project “EUROPE ON AIR 2.0” Methods for European Citizenship Education and Innovation in Youth Participation” was aimed to bring together youth workers and interested young people from programme countries and neighbouring partner countries to discuss the meaning of youth participation and volunteering in order to give new impulses for European Citizenship Education, to share possible ways to break the issue down for the practice in international youth work and to come up with creative ideas and support for practitioners in the international youth field. The programme of the TC supported the participants in exploring the opportunities of the YiA programme for the international work with young people, in establishing new contacts and in creating stable partnerships among organisations and to come up with new youth projects.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

Youth workers, youth leaders and volunteers from EU27, SEE and EECA partner countries

Training methods used & main activities

Simulation games, exercises, meetings, group work, discussions, presentations, free time activities and intercultural activities. The created units and modules were based on a learning process stimulating creativity, active participation and initiative of participants.

Outcomes of the activity

The participants became acquainted with the issue youth participation, its background and use; became familiar with the decision making of the EU; learned new concepts and models of participation and the preconditions to them; gained new contacts for networking; learned and understood the importance of belonging and values and understood that youth participation is not only a political issue but also about taking responsibility and deciding by yourself in daily life.
