Aims & objectives

The main aim of this training course was to develop participants skills and competencies to fight against hate speech and to explore on-line and off-line tools for human rights activist; also to exchange the best practices on countering hate speech within the frame of 'No Hate Speech Movement' Campaign.

Specific objectives were:
-Improving the competencies of all the participants about human rights, human rights education and youth activism combating hate speech;
- Enhancing the knowledge about the NHSM Campaign, its history and specific objectives;
- Expending and strengthening the network of NHSM activist;
- Exchange good practices from 2013-2017 NHSM Campaign;
- Creating the follow-up strategy and concrete action plans for the 'No Hate Speech Movement' Campaign.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

This Training Course involved 26 Youth Work Practitioners, and On-line/ Off-line Human Rights Activists from 12 countries: Albania, Armenia, Belgium, Georgia, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey and United Kingdom.

Training methods used & main activities

We used interactive, non-formal educations methods, such as experiences and expertise sharing, group work, facilitated discussions, simulations and daily reflection sessions. This TC also had strong emphases on providing space and time for participants to discuss and to create future vision of 'No Hate Speech Movement', to create concrete action plans to be implemented in local communities and to work on international collaborations within Erasmus+ program.

Outcomes of the activity

The main outcomes of this training course was strengthening connections and networking within 'No Hate Speech Movement' Campaign, developing new international projects within Erasmus+ (some are funded already) and participants gaining news skills, knowledge and competences. We believe participants brought home deeper understanding about the 'hate speech', 'hate crime', 'human rights education', 'youth activism' and capacity to share this information through completion of concrete action plans and projects. In other words, while acting as multipliers on local, national and international levels.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

I designed and organized the whole project and together with other 3 co-trainers we were preparing, implementing and evaluating this international mobility activity.
