Aims & objectives

EVS On-Arrival Training:
- introduce the volunteers to the host country, preparing them for the experience
- make them aware of cultural and personal challenges
- facilitate networking
- conflict prevention and crisis management advice
- to develop communication skills, intercultural learning
- to support the participants to reflect on their own personal goals

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

9 participants from Italy, Spain, Austria, Turkey, Austria , BieloRussia and Luxemburg

Training methods used & main activities

Energisers and Ice-breakers: object swaping, group juggling, finger catcher.
Activity to express expectations for the training
Trainer-led discussions
Small group discussions
Individual reflection
Sharing of individual reflections & peer support
Presentations
Brain-storming and participant suggestions
Group problem solving (with assumptions proposed by the volunteers)
Group project discovering UK & Creative group presentations

Outcomes of the activity

All participants went back to their projects with information they needed to facilitate and enrich their experience , with a reflection done on what they want to achieve and tips on how to do it, some conflict management tips an
The evaluation of participants was very positive the only point to improve is the length of time of the training.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

In this case because there were only 9 participants it was only me as a trainer so I arrange all practicalities and logistics during the training process, run the training activities and dynamics and do some mentoring work outside training programme.

I worked on this training for 3 days as a full time trainer.
