EVS Partnership Building Activity

The training activity took place
in Athens, Greece
organised by Hellenic National Agency - Youth in Action

Aims & objectives

The aim of the PBA was to create the profile of the ideal mentor and develop new partnerships in the context of EVS.

The objectives included the presentation, exploration, discussion, reflection and exchange of relevant elements such as:

crisis situations in intercultural environments;
roles, rights and responsibilities of all actors in the EVS project;
experiences, practices, methods and tools related to different aspects of mentoring;
needs and responsibilities of the ideal mentor within the European Voluntary Service;
new projects ideas and new partnerships;
importance of the recognition of non-formal education and the mentor's role in the process.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

An international group of 23 participants from Greece, Poland, Slovakia, Cyprus, Sweden, Bulgaria involved in mentoring EVS.

Training methods used & main activities

The methodology used was based on the fundamentals of non formal learning and the creation of an interactive space for exchange, sharing and production f new partnerships.
Tools used included games, working groups, presentations, simulations etc.

Outcomes of the activity

The participants created the ideal profile of a mentor having in consideration all the different angles from which a mentor has a role in the success of an EVS project.
Projects within Youth in Action were created, including trainings, PBAs and job shadowing.

Trainer and design of the training.

I worked on this training for 5 days as a full time trainer.
