Eurochild VYP Programme

Aims & objectives

As part of Eurochilds annual conference the aims of VYP were to enable:

1. Children & young people share experiences of participation & citizenship at national level

2. Children & young people debate children’s rights and participation in democratic life and the importance of creating spaces and

structures for children’s participation

3. Children & young people share their views at Eurochild’s annual conference on how child & youth participation can be promoted

and implemented and how this contributes to better policy outcomes.

4. Children & young people with different socio-cultural background share experiences & spread agreed messages to other youth in their home countries

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The project involved young people and youth organisations from Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Malta, Spain, Sweden with a focus on young people who were often excluded.

As well as this through at a number of key activities within the project there was input project had input from over 30 policy makers academics and youth organisations from at least 10 more countries.

Training methods used & main activities

Youth participation and youth work techniques witin the realms of non formal education eg, group discussion, formal presentations by young people, supported decision-making

Outcomes of the activity

Young people conducted an enquiry into methods for improving youth participation and presented findings o over 100 people at the Eurochild conference and within their home counturies

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

I advised eurochild on the development of the project including funding and design

I designed the programme and led the facilitation.

I worked on this training for 5 days as a full time trainer.
