TOY - Trainers Online for Youth
This is a reference for Maria Larisa Giangkampozidou
AIM OF THIS LEARNING PROCESS
to walk participants through a process by which they become more ecoliterate
to explore how non-formal education can contribute to young people becoming more ecoliterate
to gain deeper understanding of systematic problems and challenges
to facilitate deep, meaningful connection with nature, in order to support participants in developing their eco-competences
to empower, equip, and motivate participants toward environmental-related education
to enhance the integration of the GreenComp Framework in participants' practices
to create a community of professionals who use non-formal methods for education for sustainability
Participants are:
familiar with training basics,
have designed and delivered several trainings in an international multicultural context,
have knowledge and experience in group dynamics, facilitation of learning processes, youth work,
interested and motivated in becoming more ecoliterate as well as in facilitating that process in their trainees,
want to understand how to integrate the GreenComp in your professional practice,
current residency is in the EU.
Countries involved were: Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Greece, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Belgium, Republic of Macedonia, Italy, Romania, Italy, Denmark,
The training is a journey to enhance ecoliteracy, emphasising the crucial role of (non-formal) education in achieving environmental sustainability. Participants were introduced to approaches such as systems thinking, nature connection, and mindfulness, art therapy and embodiment. Additionally, the program included practical ways to incorporate the GreenComp framework into the trainings participants design and deliver.
With my co-trainers we used experiential learning, working in groups of 4 or 5 people and we also blended individual time with lot of learning and reflection in the big group. We always used debrief after activities and also we had everyday smaller reflection groups where they were talking about their experience of the day and reporting back to the trainers.
All the elements of selection of participants was done by all trainers, we took into consideration their experience and needs in the design of the training and we adapted according to the feedback. Also, we used evaluation at at the end both spoken and written to know how participants received the training and we can improve.
The training was successful as participants have created a community of 18 trainers who will be trained to become eco-trainers. They will join the pool of trainers PoET which part of a strategic cooperation between Hungary and Spain. This pool intends to create a community where eco-trainers collaborate and work on the same mission of competences of Green Comp Framework.

Also, we will continue with the mentoring phase in three smaller groups with each trainer being a mentor to the group. Participants are invited to have a personal mission they want to accomplish after their learnings of the training and the group with the mentor will be a supporting system for them to achieve it.
Also, there will be a second phase of the training where participants will actually facilitate their own workshops and share their reflections from their personal missions.
a) Supporting the preparation of the program of the training course;
b) Taking part in the preparation - selection of participants, online communication, cooperation with the implementing team;
c) Supporting the Trainers’ Team with facilitating sessions on agreed training activities as a co-trainer;
d) Taking part in three online meeting with the dedicated learning group in between the 2 residential events;
e) Taking part in the reporting and evaluation of the project.
It was a great experience to work with maria as a co-trainer. She is a very professional, attentive, responsive and creative trainer with great organising skills, flexible and quick problem solving style and a very calm, accepting, kind, patient temper. I highly recommend her as a trainer, facilitator.
