TOY - Trainers Online for Youth
This is a reference for András Nyirati
The 'E-volve and get involved' training aimed to give new input to active participation (education) by using media. Every (almost) young people in the world is using internet, web2 tools on a daily level, so there are possible new platforms for youth work. The training aimed to give: new communication skills (digital competencies), better understanding of critical thinking, practical input on community building & online activism and of course about diversity, tolerance and human rights. All of these components in a mixture of intercultural learning.
The training course was made for young people who are active in their communities (or wants to be active in the future). Working in an NGO was not obligatory for the participants, but it was an advantage. Most of the participants were between 20 and 30. We had young people from Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Portugal, Romania and Slovakia. The trainer team was composed by 2 trainers and an assistant from the organizers (CEMO), 1 trainer from Hungary and 1 media expert from Romania.
The training program had 3 bigger parts: active participation, media literacy and digital literacy. All parts were designed in a non-formal setting, with group work (small-big, national-mixed) and learning by doing (web2 sessions, outdoor activities).
Through the training the participants created a blog about the process and they developed projects for themselves that is about civic engagement and can be implemented in their local communities. After E-volve several new projects implemented by the partners, so we created some good links in Sovata. The Hungarian participants of the 2nd training are still volunteering or working for the local community, with roma young people in my NGO, so I have a really close experience about the good inputs E-volve gave to the participants.

My main task was the leading of active participation/solidarity parts of the training, these sessions aimed to give a wider perspective, a base for the practical sessions. I presented models (for example iceberg of diversity, pyramid of hate), lead activities/simulations/role plays about raising awareness on prejudices and discrimination. Beside that I helped to develop the whole training program with my ideas, assisted in other parts and facilitated the closing evaluation.
