Aims & objectives

This training course was based on the importance of leadership in everyday life situations and even more on those appearing in youth work. The focus was put on methods and aspects for and about leading groups, but also on how to present oneself and behave in order to be respected. „Desire to Inspire” had the goal to teach youth workers how to successfully lead groups and how to teach youngsters to become efficient team-players which directly influenced their future cooperations with the organizations taking part in the project.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The countries involved were: Austria, Poland, Slovakia, Italy, Malta, Czech Republic, Estonia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Lithuania. The target group was young people starting to work with NGOs and international youth work.

Training methods used & main activities

Quizzes presented as gameshow with all the appropriate sounds and images to help summarize and clear out knowledge about the Erasmus+ programme.

Simulation games like "Albatross" along with the LARP method to help give the participants new points of view along with first-hand experiences of leadership and following a leader.

Elaborate teambuilding exercises, teaching the participants how deep can they go to help their teams bind together.

Outcomes of the activity

The training lead a number of the participants towards deciding to increase their efforts in becoming youth leaders. Most results will be visible over a longer period of time as youth work can take its time.
