Aims & objectives

Main aim of the training was to motivate participants that are coming from native and Chinese minority groups to start to get involved with local projects in their local surrounding. Objectives were based on the following principles:
-Intercultural and inter-ethnic dialogue between participants coming from different parts of Europe
-Active participation and involvement of Chinese minority in local society
- Gaining basic learning objectives on Youth in Action program
- Understanding principles of non formal education
- Collaborating between different ethnic, religious and racial groups in purpose of future collaboration on local level

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

Target group were young people up to 30 years old that came from Hungary, Bulgaria, Italy, UK, Romania, Lithuania, Sweden, Estonia, Poland and Portugal, and that are interested in local youth work. Each country supposed to send 1 participant with Chinese background and one participant that is a native. They should have been interested in topics like project management, civil society, active citizenship and integration.

Training methods used & main activities

Training was based on principles of non-formal education. Participants were involved in different workshops that considered methods of presentation, discussion, work in small groups, SWOT analysis, theater, comic making, education through sport and outdoor activities, public speech and interviews.

Outcomes of the activity

Considering the aim of the project, one of the main outcome of the activity were 4 new written projects.
1. PBA on topic of volunteerism where 6 participants decided to apply the PBA in which they will discuss with different partners about what volunteerism means in their country, what are the rights and obligations of volunteers and how serious are governments are understanding the concept of volunteerism
2. Multi-measure project consisted out of three different training courses on topic of: Inclusion of Roma youth , Activism and active participation of youngsters with fewer opportunities and training for youth leaders that are working with religious minorities. All three training would be based on education through sport and outdoor activities methods.
3. Local project on involvement of Chinese minority into the program of Youth in Action in Italy (local project about promotion of YiA program in schools and Chinese quarts)
4. Local seminar on topic of political excellency and political literariness among youth organizations

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

My role on training was to implement the part of the program which was connected with topics of:

1. Intercultural learning
2. Learning to learn
3. Youth in Action (program and priorities)
4. European citizenship
5. Project management
6. Implementation of project writing methods

Besides me, there was one more trainer and one speaker that were responsible for following topics:

1. Assimilation and integration
2. Inclusion of minorities
3. Implementation of project writing methods

I worked on this training for 8 days as a full time trainer.
