Bridge for better beginnings

The training activity took place
in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina
organised by A.D.E.L. - Association for Development, Education and Labour

Aims & objectives

Young people from different countries, which have a turbulent history, have gathered in one place with an important purpose. Youth have been socializing during training with their peers from other countries. The aim was to realize the value of youth culture from different aspects, and that together they learn what are the values of peace building and maintaining good relationships between young people, regardless of where they come from.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

Team of trainers was made up of people from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovakia. We worked together on the implementation of training.
Participants were young people from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Slovenia, Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Training methods used & main activities

Next methods were used:
1. Technology-Based Learning (learning about peace building with use of presentations and interactive videos)
2. Group Discussions (Most frequently used method during the training with the aim that participants themselves come to conclusions with a little help from of trainers, who play the role of facilitator)
3. Outdoor activities and games (During the training, participants expressed a desire to take advantage of the nice weather we've had, so we have created sets of outdoor activities, implying workshops and games served to raise the energy among the participants, for example, Treasure hunt, etc.).

Outcomes of the activity

During the last part of the training, participants said that due to training, have changed opinions and attitudes about certain countries, cultures and people who come from these countries. Results obtained after training indicates greater socialization and companionship between the training participants. Spreading the "good vibrations" from training is already among the participants and after a long period that has passed since the training.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

My tasks was encompassing the organization of meetings of of trainers, where we talked about training sessions and other activities during the project. Also, I have implemented a large number of sessions and was responsible for organizing the visit to the city and organizing team building games.

I worked on this training for 6 days as a full time trainer.
