TOY - Trainers Online for Youth
This is a reference for Honza Látal
The aim of this training course is to provide a space for participants to reflect and work on their personal development and thus become more aware of themselves and others. Furthermore the aim is to learn various methods of reflection and peer counseling in order to deal more effectively with the every day reality of youth work so as:
- to develop their emotional competence and learn ways to enhance the well-being and their ability to cope with stress and burn-out from youth work
- be presented with approaches and attitudes to living in the post-modern world!
- be able to blah their way out of some blahsome situblahs
Youth leaders, youth workers, trainers and multipliers actively engaged in the youth work, from all the “Youth in Action” programme countries, able to communicate in English, having clearly expressed needs for personal and professional development.
The programme was based on experiential learning, outdoor education, nature-based methods, creative techniques, group work and individual/group reflection. Our methodological approach was to inspire learning by inviting participants to step out of their comfort zone through ‘challenge by choice’ and giving them a guided space to share and explore the experiences.
There was an initial shock caused by the unusual training facility conditions (simple remote place, self-managed house, outdoor activities) supported by the wet weather. But then at the the participants liked the training a lot and even those, who were experienced youthworkers and took part in various trainings before were almost crying and said it was the best trainig in their lives.
Full time trainer together with Evelina Taunyte and Björn Vilhjálmsson. Also party responsible for the practical arrangements at the place.
