I am a psychologist with extensive experience in Europe and Africa as a trainer and facilitator of group dynamics and personal development. I have a strong passion for experiential education, which drives me to continually explore new techniques and educational approaches to best meet the needs and goals of individuals and groups. I am highly skilled in outdoor activities and in motivating participants to step outside their comfort zones.
marco valerio battaglia has 5 references for past work as a trainer.
Trainer - Facilitator - Member of Italian TCA pool - Mentor Fore international Project
My recent and upcoming work is deeply rooted in my passion for experiential education and personal development. Since 2013, I have been a facilitator and program manager at Kamaleonte Impresa Sociale ETS, where I research reflective practices and experiential approaches to enhance individual well-being. My role has evolved to include managing educational programs for national schools, where I've honed my skills in non-formal education within natural settings:
- Since 2017, I've led the organization’s Adventure Therapy projects, both nationally for young people (11-16) and internationally for young adults (18-24). This includes social reintegration programs for youth with criminal proceedings.
- As head of the Erasmus+ area since 2020, I have been a trainer and facilitator in 15 mobilities, leading research projects like REFL'ACTION (reflection and experiential learning), EXIT BURNOUT (burnout prevention for youth workers), and You'th in charge (youth engagement in rural areas). I also manage territorial youth engagement strategies through KA154 projects such as Will Be EcoActive and Empateather
From 2023 to 2025, I served as a junior trainer for the Italian Youth Agency (AIG). My work focused on Transnational Cooperation Activities (TCA) to understand the individual, organizational, and community impact of programs' participation.
As the President of Io Per l'Altro APS, I have been a project manager, facilitator, and coach since 2014, leading international cooperation projects in Africa and Asia. I am responsible for territorial strategies to engage youth and combat juvenile crime
My work as a consultant since 2022 has focused on project management, development, and capacity building for teams across continents. I’ve provided mentoring for organizations like Youthmakers Hub in Greece focusing on everything from team well-being to territorial youth engagement strategies.
My educational background is a tapestry of different facets, reflecting the chameleon-like spirit with which I approach education. I hold a master's degree in Strategic Psychology and am a certified Environmental Hiking Guide specializing in group management in high-risk and emergency situations. I am also a Dragon Boat and kayak instructor.
I have enriched this foundation with seminars on experiential learning and group management, drawing from methodological frameworks like Theory U, emotional intelligence, and strategic facilitation. My specialization in Adventure Therapy has led me to develop practices and activities that are therapeutic in nature, but are not therapy themselves. The goal is to equip youth workers with the tools to create meaningful growth experiences for young people, helping them understand how to address specific behavioral and psychological patterns without overstepping their professional boundaries or causing harm.
Today, my focus has shifted to the social development of communities. I am dedicated to exploring both the formal aspects of social psychology and the non-formal strategies for effectively engaging young people in marginalized and rural areas. This dual focus allows me to bridge academic theory with real-world application, creating sustainable and impactful change.
