TOY - Trainers Online for Youth

Do you know what modern board games are? Would you like to know how I use them to work with children, adolescents, adults or the elderly? We have been developing the board game-based learning methodology for several years with different educational innovation projects and Erasmus plus projects, and it works!
Do you know what gamification is? I teach my subjects at the university and I have received several awards for my proposals. Are you ready to learn how to gamify?
Azael Herrero has 5 references for past work as a trainer.
Professor and trainer of trainers
I am a Professor at a private university. I'm European PhD in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences from the University of León, extraordinary PhD award (2006). I have two six-year research terms (2005-2010 and 2011-2016). In 2001 I started doing research on the effects of electrostimulation on physical performance. I carried out two research stays (2005 and 2008) with Nicola Maffiuletti, the world's greatest eminence in this area. Since 2006 I have been a teacher and speaker at different universities in Spain, Portugal and Latin America on acute and chronic effects of training with neuromuscular electrostimulation in different populations. In the field of personal training I am one of the co-founders of NSCA Spain, and since May 2023 the President of this institution.
I develop my teaching activity at the Miguel de Cervantes European University, where I held the positions of Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences (2014-15) and Vice Chancellor for Academic Organization and Teaching Staff (2015-18). Because my hobby has always been modern board games and role-playing games, in 2011 I started using these games to educate and motivate my daughters. This led me to learn about gamification, so since 2017 I have been teaching all my gamified subjects at the university. Thus, for example, in Research Methods my students become amateur scientists, in Statistics they compete in the Olympic Games and in Applied Statistics they travel and fight in the Middle Earth.
I am also specialized in board games-based learning, having carried out local (UEMC) and European (Erasmus Plus KA2 and KA1) projects with primary school children, vocational education and university students for the development of key competencies and soft skills. We are also working with the Provincial Council of Valladolid on how to apply modern board games to work on executive functions and avoid cognitive impairment in elderly people who live in nursing homes. We have developed a methodology that turns modern board games into a powerful educational tool. I am trainer of trainers on board game-based learning and gamification in Spain, Romania and Italy. I have also given training on personal development in different countries. I can provide training on these topics in Spanish or English in any country.
I have experience and success in applying, justifying and execution of National and European projects. In addition, in these projects I am usually the responsible for the collection and statistical analysis of data.
I graduated in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences in 2002 from the University of León. In 2006 I obtained a doctorate from the University of León after defending my thesis on the effects of electrostimulation on physical performance. In 2009 I became accredited as a private university professor. I have two six-year periods of research in the area of biomedicine. In November 2023 I was granted the level of professor at a private university.
At the same time, I am a personal trainer and I have been training personal trainers since 2009. I represent the National Strength and Conditioning Association Spain and I am currently its president.
I am co-founder of the European Institute for Modern Board Games and I am interested in collaborating on projects and training in which modern board games or gamification can have a place.
