Alberto García García

About:

If I had to describe myself as a trainer in just one word, that would be CURIOSITY. Every time I give a training course or facilitate an activity, I think of it as a learning opportunity for both the participants and me. A chance to go in depth into new topics, to listen to different opinions, to meet people who are committed and devoted to what they do, to experience new cultures… To sum up, an opportunity to satisfy my curiosity. That is why I love to be a trainer.

Alberto García García has 7 references for past work as a trainer.

Current occupation

Freelance trainer and facilitator

Work experience

For the last few years, I have worked as a coordinator and trainer in several training activities in the field of non-formal education, more precisely, in the Youth in Action programme. Many of these activities were part of the European Voluntary Service Training and Evaluation Cycle, where I have been involved since 2008 in on-departure and on-arrival trainings, final evaluation seminars and annual events. Moreover, I have also been a trainer in courses about entrepreneurship, sustainable development, voluntary service and cultural diversity, among many other topics. The above mentioned activities were performed for several entities, such as the Spanish Institute for Youth, the Spanish Network of former EVS volunteers and other non-profit organizations.

During my European Voluntary Service I was involved in dissemination activities among the local community youngsters of European mobility programs, such as the former Youth programme, Erasmus and Leonardo Da Vinci.

Furthermore, as member of the Spanish network of former EVS volunteers since its foundation, I have been taken the following responsibilities: treasury, training group coordination and project development.

Other than as a trainer, for several years now I have worked as well in the fields of accountancy and foreign trade, in both private companies and public institutions: Solvay, Alcoa, Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade, Spanish Embassy in Lisbon, etc.

Educational pathway

I studied Economics at the University of Oviedo and, once I set foot into that first Faculty, I’ve never stepped out. Business Administration was followed by Tourism and, afterwards, a Master’s degree in International Business Administration and another in Economic Growth and Sustainable development. The latter is part of my current PhD studies.

My formal education has given me the chance to broaden my points of view and know in detail fields such as Economy which, for the good or the bad, play such an important role in our life. Moreover, I have also gained an extensive range of practical knowledge in NGO management.

Soon after finishing my degree in Economics, I decided to go abroad and stayed there for a long time . I have lived in Canada, Poland, Portugal, Italy and Germany, either for work, education or voluntary activities. From these experiences, I gained a solid command of several languages: English (C1), Polish (A2), Portuguese (C2), Italian (C2) and German (A2).

My extensive experience abroad has brought me not only new language skills but, above all, exposure to new cultures. Thus, I have come to know different realities and ways of thinking, as well as work and develop a strong intercultural sensibility, which I believe is one of my main assets.

Simultaneously to my studies and work experiences, I have trained myself intensively in the field of non-formal education, attending numerous training courses on relevant topics such as Training for trainers, European Citizenship, NGO management, experimental learning… among many others.

All these courses have given me the chance of not only going deeper into the aforementioned topics, but also to know the principles and methodologies of non-formal education and, overall, to shape the trainer that I am today.

A more detailed description of my work experience and educational background might be found in Spanish in my LinkedIN profile o under request in English.
