UpGrad_Me: Self-branding through video CV using your mobile phone.
UpGrad_Me is an innovative resource for youth workers that will give them an additional material in their work with vulnerable migrant youths. Harness the power of their mobile phone for digital literacy makes this tool useful.
Aims of the tool
To produce an innovative tool for Youth Workers to train migrant youths to be more empowered in their employment search.
To promote the value of self-branding of migrant youths in building their capacity for sustainable professional inclusion.
To train migrant youth to present themselves better to potential employers and on work ethics.
To inform employers through visual and positive information of the migrant youth’s professional training and their potentials.
Description of the tool
Modules of the training cover the following topics:
Using Google apps on the smart phone
• Creating a Google account that leads to the creation of an email address, linking it with the use of the Drive, Maps and the creation of a YouTube channel.
• Creating a CV and a cover letter using Europass templates.
• Creating a Video CV using a mobile video editor (KineMaster) and uploading it on their YouTube channel
It’s important for them to know how to use social media as a tool for marketing oneself, finding job opportunities and gaining soft skills which boost employability and therefore improve social inclusion within host communities.
The training course can be divided in 4 principal parts:
• Soft skills and transversal
• Presenting yourself
• Smart phones usages
• Simulation
At the end of the training, migrants youths should be able to use their mobile phone to create a paper cv and a video cv, do a job search online, apply by sending their cv by email.
