Simulation Exercise
A creative verification challenge where players analyse a news story and express their fact-checked conclusion by designing a meme.
To combine source analysis with creative communication by:
a) Teaching players to research and verify a story’s credibility; and
b) Showing how humour and visuals can highlight truth or misinformation.
Developed under the Unfake Social Media project’s Lateral Reading category, Memearazzi blends investigation with creativity. Players examine a news story’s source, author, date, and context to determine whether it is true or misleading. Once they reach a verdict, they must design a meme that captures and communicates their conclusion.
This playful approach reveals how visual content can shape narratives and challenge misinformation. It also highlights how memes influence public understanding — for better or worse.
The game builds both analytical and expressive skills, turning fact-checking into a fun, artistic exercise.
