Energise the group in a non-verbal activity, work together as a team, focus on listening skills.

Description of the tool

* Start off with the whole group clapping out a basic rhythm: “long-long-short-short-long-short-short-short-long-short-long” (like the melody used during football-matches in some countries).
When everyone knows this rhythm and can clap together perfectly synchronised, you divide the group into two.
Both groups start clapping the basic rhythm together. Group One keeps to the basic rhythm, but Group 2 gets the more serious task of adding two long claps in the end of the sequence. So their rhythm becomes “long-long-short-short-long-short-short-short-long-short-long-LONG-LONG”. When the two groups hear that they are starting all together (this happens after 5 rounds of the basic rhythm and 4 rounds of the longer version) they finish together by shouting “OLÉ” after the last clapping.

Variation: instead of using clapping, the exercise can simulate rain. One person starts by making "plops" of drops by tapping on your cheek. Once everybody joins, the next step is to make drips with your fingers on the chest, then with hands on the labs, foillowed by fists on chest and back through all steps agaion. This exercise requires silence and concentration from the group and creates a great atmosphere.
