Manual
Coordinated by Buinho, "Precious Plastic" Erasmus+ Youth in Action 2018-2-PT02-KA105-005287, was the first KA105 dedicated to the Precious Plastic Movement. This handbook shares our experience in building and operating the Precious Plastic Machines.
In this Handbook will have an introduction to Plastic Recycling and Plastic Waste Management, as well as relevant information on how to build and operate the Precious Plastic Machines.
This handbook aims to help and inspire other youth organizations to build the machines and further expand the Precious Plastic network.
The Erasmus Precious Plastic project was a call for action, seeking to stimulate young people to act upon some of their fundamental environmental rights that are currently threatened.
It was inspired by the Precious Plastic initiative (https://preciousplastic.com/), which enables the creation of low cost, DIY, community-based recycling units. Recycling units that are not only capable of collecting and separating plastic waste, but also to transform recycled plastic into multiple new products with original design. A space that connects social awareness (active citizenship) to creativity (design of new products) and digital skills (digital manufacturing).
A Precious Plastic workshop is above all a neighborhood recycling factory, a space to gather a community, share a purpose, develop new ideas and contribute for a better world.
The handbook seeks to summarize some of the experience gathered by the team in the making of the machines, as well as providing some useful tips that cannot be found in the official Precious Plastic Manual. We also included some operational tips to assist you in the making of recycled plastic objects using the different machines.
The handbook can be found in the download section. For more information please visit the project website - http://preciousplastic.pt/
