Simulation Exercise
To use interactive theatre techniques for analyzing conflict resolution possibilities by simulating different kinds of conflict
The plays are performed another time [40 min each] break of 10 min between the two.
This time the non- performing teams can interfere by becoming real SPECT-ACTORS (everyone receives the card with the method explanation from HANDOUT 5):
the original play has surely a mistake, a failure in the way the conflict is managed. The ACTORS are trying to perform the play as they scripted, but the SPECT-ACTORS have the possibility of changing the course of events, in order to find a possible solution to the conflict. They can take the place of 1 character, by saying STOP and then the name of the character they want to substitute. The other ACTORS have to modify, if needed, their roles. After the situation has been changed (or not) the old actor re-enters his/her role but following the changes brought.
The audience has to observe and fill the form regarding conflict resolution (HANDOUT 3: conflict resolution form, see the "Understanding conflicts" session, p.)
