Un giorno in comune/ A day in municipality

The project consists in a 5-days training course for youth workers or potential youth workers of municipalities.
In order to better address the needs of young people in local communities each municipality requires to have professional youth workers, who have a clue about non-formal learning, key competences, orienteering after school, mobility opportunities, intercultural learning, youth policies, participation, ICT and engagements. Generally, we face local public bodies who are not able to implement structured policies because of lack of expertise, although they have invested in rooms and facilities. Many times the employees appointed to take over the role of youth worker are the results of internal calls, don’t have mobility experience abroad, no preparation regarding inclusion. The risk is to waste the investment made and decrease the number of opportunities for youngsters at local level. In addition, we risk to have empty boxes in our municipalities where no young people come in.
It is also needed to define the role of youth work and its meaning in Europe, although now every country has different definition and perspective about youth work.
Seen this scenario, during the training course the participants will learn how to run a youth office, how to understand the needs, what to offer, how to create a learning environment and how to engage youngsters.
The participant is required to present its own method in working with youngsters (good practice).
At the end of the project, we will collect the method in a booklet.

OBJECTIVES
- Provide youth workers and candidate youth workers tools to make their daily work more effective;
- Train youth worker to deal with policy makers
- Exchange good practices and new methods
- Learn more about youth policies
- Strategies to engage youngsters in participation
- What to offer in a youth center managed by municipality

PROFILE OF PARTICIPANTS
- be over 18 years old;
- be fluent in English;
- be employee or staff of the municipality involved as partner or be external worker appointed by the municipality;
- be committed to fully participate, share the methods and disseminate the results in own network;
- be positive and participative

CONDITIONS
- The project will not foresee free days
- We will have no less than 6 hours activity each day
- Breakfast, lunch and dinner included and served at the venue
- Participation is free of charge
- Participants must travel in the given travel dates. It is not possible to anticipate/postpone the trip and visit other cities or locations.
