Together against climate change

The Energy Management Agency of Maramures – AMEMM (NGO from Romanian) and European Initiatives Center - EIC (NGO from the Ukraine) are looking for a UK organisation to act as applicant within a proposal submitted under the Youth in Action programme, Action 3 – Youth in the World; Sub-Action 3.1 - Cooperation with the Neighbouring Partner Countries of the European Union.

We propose a Trilateral Youth Exchange for 3 groups of participant (from the 3 partner countries), each group comprising 6-8 children, ages 14-16, plus 2 group leaders.

Because we want to carry out the activity in the UK, the applicant must be an eligible organisation from the UK who has to submit the application to the UK National Agency (http://www.britishcouncil.org/youthinaction.htm).

The proposed theme of the exchange is sustainable energy and climate change. The Romanian and Ukrainian children would like to learn about how energy and climate change are addressed in the UK schools in order to be able to implement similar actions into their schools.

The programme of the exchange should therefore provide young people with a good understanding about climate change, energy efficiency and renewable energy sources. The participant will also have the opportunity to make a comparison on how climate change and energy issues are regarded and tackled in the 3 countries. New knowledge, skills and attitudes should be gained through non-formal and informal learning. The participants come from three very different countries in terms of history and culture, Romania and the Ukraine being countries not very well known by the citizens of Western Europe due to the many years of communist isolation, therefore the action should also create a platform for cultural exchange between the young people.

The title of the project might be: “TOGETHER AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE”, but we are also open to suggestions.

In terms of filling in the Application Form, although we want to contribute extensively, we would nevertheless have to rely heavily on your support because the activity will be organised in the UK and the applicant must be the UK promoter, who also have the main responsibility in organising the exchange activity.
