Sustainability rules

Our ecovillage promotes sustainability. We host visitor groups. Sustainable tasks are part of work. We cooperate with non-profits and Vesilahti community.

Sustainability Rules is a volunteering long-term activity with strong principles based on ecology, sustainability, solidarity, inclusion and healthy communities. Our work with this project embraces the importance of changing the future together through: supporting people, managing resources, creating opportunities, improving accessibility, striking bias, connecting youth, highlighting potential, and overall giving our best to create happiness, abundance and fairness to everyone. This is a project full of practical activities with important and valuable learning outcomes.
Volunteers will take part in our daily activities, which will help them to understand how and why we are living this way. We believe that by learning with practical components, they understand better how everything influences the current situation and how they can intervene and take action in a more independent way in the future. Taking part in our volunteering project is: getting close to the importance of commonality, solidarity and inclusion; wider their point of view by helping to improve our community, other local communities and their own communities back home; create a new sense of being pro-active to change the current situation; embrace challenges and struggles and turn them into opportunities; learn how to "bridge" their projects and find work partners; etc. Our ecovillage is easily reachable and accessible for everyone who`s interested in sustainable and communal living. We host visitors and groups and have several open doors days (n.15/year). Volunteers give the needed extra hands with the visitors and all the social happenings. Sustainable tasks are part of daily work. Volunteers are a visible example of internationality and solidarity for the Vesilahti citizens and our partners.
By partnering with the volunteers we aim: make the world a little bit better place to be; work together without any country, sex, age or ideological borders; give volunteering opportunities for young people who want to learn about themselves, sustainable development and commonality; create heterogenic volunteering groups: different backgrounds and sex, wide age differences, volunteers from different countries from all over Europe; give the volunteers the possibility to do multiple work tasks, improve old talents and find their own strengths and we want to welcome volunteers with fewer opportunities showing them that their knowledge and talent is equally important and valuable.
Volunteers will share a house and live really close to each other, sharing work and probably free time together. We will strongly support volunteers to create a tolerant and respectful group, a family.
