THIS IS A TRANSNATIONAL YOUTH INITIATIVE, MEANING WE ARE ONLY LOOKING FOR OTHER INFORMAL GROUPS OF YOUNG PEOPLE TO COOPERATE IN THIS PROPOSAL.
The REACH+ project aims to support the empowerment of LGBT+ people in rural areas across Europe through the development of an online platform with inspiring stories, news, opportunities in different languages.
Objectives:
- Provide a platform for LGBT+ people in rural areas with inspiring stories
- Increase the visibility of LGBT+ groups in rural areas across Europe
Context
Being a LGBT+ person in rural area is a challenge and several studies demonstrated that there are significant disadvantages in being a LGBT+ person in rural area, both from a social and health perspective. Moreover, often people in rural areas are closer and more traditional, which can trigger bullying and social exclusion.
REACH+
The project addresses this issue through 2 main activities:
A1. Development of an online website about being LGBT+ in rural area
The website will be a platform to give visibility to LGBT+ groups in rural areas, promote good practices and ideas, as well as connect with other LGBT+ people.
A2. Awareness raising campaign about bullying in rural schools
This activity focuses on the creation of a awareness raising campaign regarding LGBT+ bullying in rural schools, to raise awareness about the issue and provide resources to teachers and victims of bullying.
