Protection of children's rights in sport

Main Goal of the project is to encourage Coaches/ Sport Teachers to understand their responsibilities for the rights of children within their sports club.

Our consortium strongly believes that there is an urgent need to research the violation of children’s rights within sports and that sports for children and young people up to 18 years should be conducted from a child rights perspective and follow the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The consortium wishes to set out several concerns, principles and action areas with the objective of ensuring that the fundamental rights of children are promoted, protected, respected and fulfilled not only within professional sport but also in grassroots sport.
Specific Objectives:
1. To develop the skills and competences of the members of the consortium and local coaches on the provisions on children’s rights in sport in the participant countries. 2. To collect data on how international and national policies in the domain of children’s rights are implemented and experienced at the local sport club level in the participant countries. 3. To develop educational methods and improve existing good practices in order to build a common mindset centered on the positive experience of the children in sport: safety, friendships, the freedom to choose etc.
