Open UP to UAMs

The proposed project is a training course that aims to increase youth workers' skills to work with UAMs

In recent years, flows of immigrants and refugees to Europe from third countries have grown rapidly, creating a new multicultural reality and new social needs. Over 22.3 million third-country nationals live in the EU. Among these populations there are a large number of unaccompanied children and young people (UAMs). Migration of children and young people has become a recognized part of today's global and mixed migration flows with unaccompanied minors being recognized as a particularly vulnerable category of young refugees requiring social, personal, emotional and psychological support. Youth organizations have the potential to contribute to this support but they need to improve their skills and knowledge in the field. In this context, the proposed project aims to prepare the youth workers to effectively work with UAMs, to increase their participation in youth activities and thus to promote their social and personal development.
